Ed Bernstein has played a significant role in a wide variety of consumer, media and technology companies including those focused on film and television, videogame, wireless entertainment, digital imaging, and entertainment PC software, as well as the fashion industry.

 

He has also played an instrumental role in helping overseas companies, with a focus on New Zealand.  These include a major project for Weta, the New Zealand-based film and television production company behind the Lord of the Rings film series; consulting to Pikpok Games, a leading iPhone game developer; as well obtaining distribution for New Zealand-based technologies by major US retailers including Walgreens, CVS and Wal-Mart.

 

He began his technology career in the computer and video game industry, where he launched the megahit children’s software series “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”, which eventually became a hit TV, videogame, toy and licensing success story.  He has continued to advise consumer, entertainment and technology companies in an ongoing role with Creekside LLC, the consulting company he cofounded.  

 

In addition to his “day jobs,” Mr. Bernstein has played an advisory role to numerous companies, either as a member of the Board of Directors or as a strategic consultant.  He has worked with a variety of venture capital investors, startups and entertainment companies.  

 

Previously, he was founder and CEO of PhotoTLC, Inc., providing online and in-store digital photo services and gifts for the largest retailers in the United States, including Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Meijer, Albertsons and Wal-Mart.   Prior to PhotoTLC, he was CEO of photo sharing pioneer PhotoPoint.com as well as serving in an ongoing role assisting technology and consumer product startups.

 

He was founder and CEO of Palladium Interactive, which created children’s and family software and online services, which was sold profitably to The Learning Company (later Mattel).  

 

Before Palladium, at software companies Brøderbund and Mindscape (previously called Software Toolworks), Bernstein was a key member of each company's management team, overseeing the selection, development and marketing of highly successful entertainment and educational computer and video game software.

 

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Andalay Solar, a publicly traded solar power systems company, and was cofounder and CEO of Propell Technologies Group, which he took public through its successful merger with Novas Energy USA.

 

Before becoming a technology executive, Bernstein was an editor and writer for a variety of daily newspapers and technology publications, including InfoWorld, Byte Magazine, The Hartford Courant and the Marin County (California) Independent Journal.  He received his B.A. from the University of Hartford and is a graduate of Stanford University’s Executive Program.
